What sets it apart

Its $8,900 private pilot example is the lowest total in this set, but it assumes only the 40-hour FAA minimum, which the page itself says most students exceed.

What the page prints

Instruction $65 an hour, discovery flight $99 special, Cessna 172 at $135 an hour in its cost example.

Taken from the school's own page. The page does not say whether fuel is included. We do not guess. The page shows no date.

One dual hour

$200 per hour. Cessna 172 (cost example) at $135 plus instruction at $65. This adds the two published rates. It is not a quote, and it is not like for like with schools that include different things.

The school's own private pilot estimate

$8,900. Hours it assumes: the FAA minimum: 40 hours of flight time at $135, 20 hours dual at $65, 15 hours of ground instruction at $65. Not including tax. The page says the average private pilot needs more than 50 hours.

The FAA minimum is 40 flight hours (14 CFR 61.109). An estimate built on fewer hours than a student needs will be too low.
