Vegas Aviation
Las Vegas flight school with a fleet of eight Cessna 172s and an itemized private pilot estimate.
Las Vegas, Nevada. Part 61 or Part 141 is not stated on the pages we read.
What sets it apart
States the hours behind its estimate: its $17,285 private pilot total assumes 62 flight hours and 2 simulator hours, and the dual hour works out to $235 ($175 aircraft plus $60 instruction).
What the page prints
Cessna 172 from $175 an hour, instruction from $60 an hour, Duchess from $425.
Taken from the school's own page. The page does not say whether fuel is included. We do not guess. The page shows no date.
| Item | Per hour | Note |
|---|---|---|
| Cessna 172 (fleet of 8), starting at | $175 | |
| Beechcraft Duchess (2), starting at | $425 | |
| Instruction: Flight instruction, starting at | $60 | Billed in addition to the aircraft rate. |
One dual hour
$235 per hour. Cessna 172 at $175 plus instruction at $60. This adds the two published rates. It is not a quote, and it is not like for like with schools that include different things.
The school's own private pilot estimate
$17,285. Hours it assumes: 62 flight hours and 2 simulator hours: 50 hours dual at $235 an hour, 10 hours solo at $175, 20 hours of ground instruction at $60. Includes a $765 onboarding kit with the Cessna online course, a 2-hour checkride aircraft rental ($350) and the $1,200 examiner fee.
The FAA minimum is 40 flight hours (14 CFR 61.109). An estimate built on fewer hours than a student needs will be too low.
Fees and terms the page names
- Examiner fee $1,200 (in its estimate)
- Onboarding kit $765 (in its estimate)
Students who want a full private pilot estimate with the checkride included.
You want a firm hourly rate rather than "starting at" prices.
Watch out for
- Rates are "starting at" prices, so a given aircraft may cost more.
- The page does not say whether the aircraft rate includes fuel.
